Dear Seton Hill Alumni and Friends,

I hope you are well and taking care of yourselves and your families. Please know all of our Seton Hill students, families, alumni and friends are in our prayers.

During times of uncertainty, our Setonian values remain our touchstone. The last several weeks have brought varied and increasing challenges to our world and have changed how we all live and work. While our work together at Seton Hill looks and feels very different right now, we continue as a community; a community that advances learning and prepares our students to pursue opportunities and to, in the words of our mission statement, “transform the world.”

As students have left the Residence Halls and moved to an online learning environment for the remainder of the semester, faculty and staff continue to ensure that our students receive an education of the highest quality—an education undergirded by the academic, spiritual and wellness support they need to be successful.

Many of you have reached out to ask what you can do to help Seton Hill students at this time. We have established a Setonian Financial Aid Fund to provide financial aid assistance to students whose changing circumstances jeopardize their ability to continue their Seton Hill education.

As you can imagine, these uncertain times have placed increasing financial burdens on our socio-economically diverse student body. Many of our students work part-time to support their education and they are now out of work; and in some cases, their parents are struggling as well.

During the last two weeks, we have received calls from students whose families have been negatively financially impacted by the pandemic and who worry they will not be able to complete their education. The Setonian Financial Aid Fund will assist our most vulnerable students with scholarship support in their time of need.

If your circumstances allow, we invite you to consider a gift to the Setonian Financial Aid Fund. As you consider your gift, please keep in mind that the Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES Act) that was signed into law on March 27 provides donors with added incentive for charitable contributions. Please visit the CARES Act Information page to learn more about these specific opportunities.

Please know your gift will make an incredible difference and help our students to continue to learn, lead and serve in the tradition of the Sisters of Charity. Indeed, the Seton Hill story is filled with risk, faith in uncertain times and belief in the future. We are blessed to have a community that is resilient, vibrant and caring. Together, we will get through this time. Thank you for being there for Seton Hill students and for helping us carry forward the faith and commitment of our founders. Be assured of our continuing prayers.

Warm regards,

Mary C. Finger
