How to Apply

You can apply online for free using the University application. On the application, in the section for major of interest, please indicate nursing.

Admission Requirements

GPA & Test Score Admission Requirements for Nursing Program 

High School Students

  • 3.5 cumulative GPA
  • 3.2 GPA in all science courses
  • Minimum ACT of 21
  • Minimum SAT of 1060

In addition, the high school academic course of study should include completion of the following courses:

  • 2 years of science with laboratory
  • 2 years of mathematics (should include algebra)

Transfer Students

  • 3.0 cumulative transfer GPA
  • 3.0 GPA in all college science courses (student must show evidence of strength in science and math courses)
  • Provide SAT or ACT scores (if available)

Nursing program faculty will assess each transfer application and transcripts on an individual basis to determine acceptance based on available space in the program.

Accepted transfer students will be admitted only to the freshman level regardless of number of credits transferred in.

Test-Optional BSN Admission Requirements

To be considered for Test-Optional admission, applicants must submit all of the following items:

  • A Seton Hill University application
  • Official high school transcripts
  • 1 letter of recommendation from a science teacher or instructor
  • Nursing essay based on the following:

What has influenced your interest in nursing? Describe how your personal strengths, experiences, and aptitude will contribute to your success in nursing school and career in nursing (community service, leadership experience, healthcare experience). 

To be considered for admission into the program students must:

  • Be accepted into Seton Hill University
  • Have a minimum high school GPA of 3.5
  • Have a minimum science GPA of 3.2

Nursing Program faculty will assess each test-optional application on an individual basis regarding admission and available seats.
