Visual Arts: Seton Hill University’s Harlan Gallery will present an exhibit showcasing the work of students from August 23-September 27. The reception will be held on Thursday, August 23, from 4-7 p.m. The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public. Kevin M. McManus holds a Bachelor of Science degree in music education from Penn State University, a graduate performer’s certificate from the State University of New York Purchase Conservatory, and a Master of Music degree from Carnegie Mellon University. McManus has performed on Broadway and completed two first national tours of the shows “Urinetown: the Musical” and “Little Women the Broadway Musical.” In the summer of 2009, McManus was a featured soloist in Pittsburgh’s Civic Light Opera production of “Swing!” He has performed with artists including: Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra Jr., Josh Groban, Wayne Newton, Frankie Vallie and The Four Seasons, Aretha Franklin, Patti LaBelle, Glen Campbell, Maureen McGovern, Isaac Hayes, Lou Rawls, Gloria Gaynor,The Temptations, The Four Tops, Don Rickles, Regis Philban and The Manhattan Transfer. He has performed with the Pittsburgh and Wheeling Symphony Orchestras and the River City and Reunion Brass Bands. McManus is the founder and leader of: The Bone Forum, a jazz 10 trombone ensemble with rhythm section, The Collective Jazz Octet, a swingin’ eight piece jazz chamber ensemble and The Pittsburgh Trombone Project. He can be seen internationally on PBS’s “My Music” and “American Soundtrack Series.” McManus is currently a faculty member at of Seton HIll University, Waynesburg University, Frostburg State University and Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School.

Performing Arts: Seton Hill University will host “50 for 50,” a concert featuring 50 harpists celebrating the 50th anniversary of the American Harp Society, on September 22, at 7:30 p.m., in the Carol Ann Reichgut Concert Hall at the Seton Hill University's Performing Arts Center, 100 Harrison Avenue, Greensburg, Pa. Harpists from Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia and New York will present a concert of music for harp and chamber ensembles. Under the direction of Marvin Huls, associate professor of music, Seton Hill University faculty and students will join the harpists.

Lucy Scandrett, adjunct instructor of harp at Seton Hill and coordinator of the event, is the immediate past president of the American Harp Society and was presented with the 2012 American Harp Society Lifetime Achievement Award in June.

Greece needs peace! Dionysus, the god of theatre and wine, has decided that only a playwright can bring peace to Greece. In this raucous comedy, Dionysus travels to Hades to bring the best dramatist back from the dead. A face-off ensues between great tragedians Aeschylus and Euripides, leaving Dionysus to judge who has the dramatic ammunition to end the war.

Performing Arts: Seton Hill University’s Westmoreland Symphonic Winds will present “Celebration” on December 2 at 7:30 p.m. in the Carol Ann Reichgut Concert Hall on the main floor of the Seton Hill University Seton Hill University's Performing Arts Center located at the corner at 100 Harrison Avenue in Greensburg, Pa. The first concert of the 2012-13 season celebrates the extraordinary talent of the Westmoreland Symphonic Winds and will feature the Seton Hill University Faculty Saxophone Quartet and classic works for band by Sergei Prokofiev, Robert Jager and Jan Bach. Paul Basler's exciting “Carnival” will bring the concert to a thrilling finish.
