Music Program
Music has been an integral part of the Seton Hill experience since we awarded our first two degrees - both Bachelors of Music - in 1919. From those early students to the present day, the music program has been committed to excellence. Our new Performing Arts Center affirms that dedication as it provides a thoroughly modern showcase for the talents of our students, and the expertise of our faculty. Located in the cultural district of Greensburg, Pa., the Center contains two performance spaces, the Carol Reichgut Concert Hall and the William Granger Ryan Theatre, in addition to new classrooms, rehearsal rooms and technical areas that include the best equipment for learning and performing - from Steinway pianos to the latest in lighting, sound, video and acoustics.
Seton Hill is an All-Steinway School (read the article on Seton Hill in The Steinway Chronicle) and a fully accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music. Our graduates have gone on to distinguished careers in education, performance, sacred music, music therapy and many other music-related fields. At Seton Hill, you will benefit from a long tradition of excellence in the study of music combined with the best of modern facilities, in a course of study that combines study in music with the breadth and depth of a liberal arts education.
The program offers a full range of ensemble experiences, from the University Choir, Chamber Choir, Opera Workshop, Westmoreland Symphonic Winds, Griffin Band, Jazz Band, and Westmoreland Philharmonic, to numerous smaller chamber music experiences.
Courses of study lead to the Bachelor of Music in music education, music therapy, performance or sacred music and to the Bachelor of Arts in music. A music minor is also available. Come and be a part of the Seton Hill experience.
