Student Viewing Art in Gallery

Seton Hill University Art & Design Galleries

The Seton Hill University Art & Design Department proudly maintains two dedicated exhibition spaces: Harlan Gallery and Jodee Harris Gallery, both located within the Seton Hill Arts Center. These professional venues host a dynamic range of curated exhibitions featuring nationally and internationally recognized artists, alongside work by current students and alumni.

Serving as integral components of the department’s educational mission, the galleries provide students with meaningful opportunities to engage with contemporary art and explore relevant cultural and conceptual ideas. The annual exhibition calendar includes juried, invitational, student, and alumni shows.

All exhibitions are free and open to the public. We warmly welcome visitors to experience the diverse and vibrant programming offered by the Seton Hill University Galleries.

Underbelly Curator Bios:

Carolina Alamilla

Carolina Alamilla is an artist, educator, and curator; her current research examines non-traditional gallery spaces and how art in a casual context can create a deeper connection with a viewer. She has collaborated with ceramicists, writers, and dancers through her practice, all of whom inform her curatorial and studio practices.

Her curatorial projects include Third Floor Window (Pittsburgh 2020-2022), Built by Pictures (Stay Home Gallery, online, 2021) Spilling the Tea (Charles Adams Studio Project, Lubbock, 2019). She has also written art reviews for exhibitions and artist collaborations for the online publication The Pittsburgher.

Carolina was a Curatorial Fellow with Stay Home Gallery and an Associated Artists of Pittsburgh member. She is an Assistant Professor of Studio Art at Washington & Jefferson College.

Carolina holds a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Ceramics & Transmedia from Texas Tech University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) from the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill.

Britny Wainwright

Britny Wainwright is a sculptor who uses ceramics, fiber, and mixed materials to abstract and draw meaning from domestic objects. Deeply invested in feminist material culture, she advocates for assertive decorative language in the gallery.

Britny has shown work at the Weston Gallery in Cincinnati, OH, Vinegar Contemporary in Birmingham, AL, The North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh, NC, and Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, AR among others. She has held several residencies, most recently as a co-facilitator for “Clay in the Expanded Field” at Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts.

Also a curator and educator, Britny is a cofounder of Dream Clinic Project Space in Columbus, OH, an artist-run gallery and studios. Her recent curatorial project with Emily Bayless Edge: Where Two Things/Materials Meet featured artists who work in ceramics in tandem with other materials. She currently serves as a visiting faculty and Director of Foundations Studies in the Department of Art at Ohio State University.

Britny received an MFA from Ohio State University and a BFA from Alfred University. Originally from upstate New York, she now maintains a studio practice in Columbus, Ohio.
