Graphic Designer and Animator Emma Bawiec Creates with Apple Tech
Seton Hill art major Emma Bawiec took a quick second away from working on her senior gallery exhibition to answer a few questions about the technology that helps to inspire her creativity.
Q: Hi Emma! What degree are you earning at Seton Hill, and how far along are you?
A: I am a Senior Graphic & Interactive Design Major with a Concentration in Animation, and a Minor in Art History!
Q: Why did you choose Seton Hill?
A: Honestly, the atmosphere of the campus and the welcoming attitude of everyone on the Hill! The student community felt so tight-knit and nice! I also really liked the idea of going to a school with a wide range of majors and experiences.
Q: What technology do you use for coursework, art projects, etc., at Seton Hill?
A: My MacBook from the school, as well as an iPad and an Apple Pencil.
Q: As an artist, how does technology help impact your art, creative process, and/or classroom learning?
A: For me, my MacBook has been helpful. Running 3 different programs at a time can be a lot, but my MacBook has kept up so well. I would also say the AirDrop feature has been so, so helpful. I use AirDrop to move images, files, projects, class notes and papers between my iPad and MacBook. I think the MacBook and iPad are also just so customizable for your preferences! Being in control of so many features and settings on my MacBook and iPad has made it so much easier to stay focused and organized.
Q: Are there any particular pieces of art or creative projects you were involved with at Seton Hill that you really enjoyed or feel proud of?
A: I do a lot of illustration work on my iPad with my Pencil. I have also used my MacBook in essentially every piece I have made. I always sketch on my iPad, use AirDrop to send to my Mac, and bring that into Adobe to work on and experiment with.
BONUS QUESTION: What advice or information would you give to a high school (or transfer) student who is currently considering coming to Seton Hill for a degree in your, or a similar, major?
A: ORGANIZE YOUR FILES AND DRIVE! You will thank me later!
