Students Showcase Work at Greensburg Arts Center
Since joining Seton Hill in 2024, Assistant Professor of Art Josias Figueirido has made a point of working with different organizations around town to showcase students’ work in off-campus venues.
This spring, new student works in painting, drawing, printmaking, and sculpture were displayed at the Greensburg Art Center at part of an exhibition titled “In Practice.” The show was a collaboration between Seton Hill and the GAC, where Sara Thomas, a representative from the GAC, came to campus to work with Figueirido to select the artwork for the space.
The exhibit featured more than 30 pieces created as part of assignments in the Seton Hill studios across mediums, kicking off with an opening reception March 14 where the students had a chance to engage with members of the public and talk about their work. The works remained on display at the center through April 24.
“When students present their work outside the classroom, they begin to experience it as professionals do, considering audience, space, and presentation, and they gain insights that cannot be replicated inside the studio alone,” said Figueirido.
In the fall, “Levels & Layers,” a selection of works by all levels of Seton Hill painting students, was on display at the Greensburg Art & Civic Center during their Halloween activities.
