Try out for a play or a team. Make some new friends and invite them to play your favorite video game (on a giant screen) in the MediaSphere. Join one of our student clubs - or start a new one. Enjoy a movie, a concert, a dance performance, a great meal, a comedy act, or a sports game, match or tournament - or curl up with a book in one of our new student lounges or residence hall suites. Take a hike, learn to paint, become involved with Campus Ministry (which provides opportunities for students of all faith traditions to enrich their university experience by participation in worship, community service and socially responsible activities), or join a group taking a trip to another city - or another country. You can do it all right here. From Seton Hill, your world, and your life, truly opens up
The Office of Activities and Commuter Life plans student activities and programming. Activities include social and cultural events and planned as well as spontaneous programming. A wide variety of activities are offered in order to meet the diverse interest of SHU students.
Popular activities include trips to points of interest such as Pittsburgh, Washington, D.C., and New York City; dances on and off campus; skiing trips; intramurals; holiday events; entertainers on campus; trips to hockey games and the ballet; picnics and many others.
Sullivan Lounge located on the first floor of Sullivan Hall serves as the site for off campus entertainers, dances, game shows, and a variety of student social events. Its proximity to the Bookstore and the Griffin's Cove, as well as its 24-hour access, adds to its convenience as the hub of the student center.
Student life and activities at Seton Hill mirror the diversity of the student population. There’s something for everyone! There are trips to ballet, symphony, and Broadway musical productions in Pittsburgh. On campus culture abounds with the superb musical and theatrical performances of Seton Hill's School of Visual and Performing Arts.
If the interest is physical activities, canoeing on the Youghiogheny River and hiking and biking on the trails nearby are popular in the fall. Ski trips help students survive the winter. On campus across the year, intramural activities such as, flag football, sand volleyball, ultimate frisbee, weight training, aerobics and others provide an outlet to "let off steam" and relax after a demanding class day. Students can also utilize the workout and fitness equipment located in Sullivan Hall.
Many SHU students are sports fans so there are trips to Pittsburgh to cheer on the Pirates in their pennant quests each season and to get rowdy with the Penguins. Other attractions in Pittsburgh draw our students; the Carnegie museums, the strip district, and Station Square.
In short, all students at Seton Hill are encouraged to contribute programming ideas and to become involved in event planning. The end result is a potpourri of activity to entertain and to augment the academic development of our students.
