The Youth Honors Band, part of the Community Arts program at Seton Hill, was started 19 years ago as an honors band for students of local Catholic schools. After a few years, it was opened to all students in the area. Kathleen Campbell, associate professor of music at Seton Hill University, has been involved from the beginning, starting this program just a few years after she began the Westmoreland Symphonic Winds, the wind ensemble in residence at Seton Hill. Through the years there have been various guest conductors, with Annette Russell of Jeannette conducting last year’s group. This year’s conductor, Dr. Theodore DiSanti, is an associate professor of music at Seton Hill, where he teaches trumpet, brass ensembles, jazz history, conducting, education, theory, and directs the Griffin Band, Seton Hill’s Pep Band.
