Music Teacher Wants to Connect Special Education & Music

Emma Firment pursued her love of music to Seton Hill, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in music education in 2016. She then began her career as an elementary music teacher at Aquinas Academy, in Greensburg, Pa.

Recently, Emma has returned to the Hill to earn a Master of Arts degree in special education. Her goal is to teach music  to children with special needs.

“I want to make connections, ” she says, “between special education and the world of music.”

When not teaching or studying, Firment instructs the drum line for the Greater Latrobe Marching Band.

“I’ve done so for the past five years,” she says. “It’s where my own music career began.”
