The theme of this round table discussion was Education for the Future: Public versus Religious Schooling. Sr. Alicia Costa was invited to attend this conference of educational policymakers and practitioners comprised of educators, philosophers, historians, and theologians from various religious denominations.

Sr. Costa's paper addressed some of the myths associated with school vouchers and presented a case study of the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program, the longest running voucher program in the U.S.A., as a viable model that fulfills the mission of the state to prepare its citizens for a participatory democracy while also realizing the preferences of parents and students.
