2-D Design (SAR 120)

Introduction to the tools, materials, and concepts of two-dimensional image-making; the elements and principles of visual organization with contextual associations; drawing, painting, introductory printmaking, and mixed media. Satisfies the Artistic Expression requirement of the Liberal Arts Curriculum. Spring and fall semesters. 3 credits. Fee.

Black and White Photography (SAR 135)

Introduction to the camera, film developing, enlargement, and printing; emphasis on developing skills to produce the “classic "print. Satisfies the Artistic Expression requirement of the Liberal Arts Curriculum. Fall and spring semesters. 3 credits. Fee.

Digital Imaging I (SAR 180)

Study of theory and hands-on application of digital image creation and manipulation. Emphasis on the study of Adobe Photoshop software. Satisfies the Artistic Expression requirement of the Liberal Arts Curriculum. Spring semester; fall, spring, and summer ADP sessions. 3-4 credits. Fee.

Video (SAR 213)

This course is an introduction to the art of video and audio pre and post-production. Students will gain experience in video and audio capture and be able to edit them together to tell a story. Through demonstrations, readings, and practice, students will learn basic editing techniques with Adobe Premiere Pro. Prerequisite: SAR117 or SAR180 (nonmajors). Spring Semester, odd numbered years. 3 credits. Fee.

Digital Imaging II (SAR 281)

This advanced course provides digital image-making concepts and techniques and in-depth exploration of computer-based photo projects. Prerequisite: SAR180. Spring semester. 3 credits. Fee.

Photography Tools & Techniques (SAR 316)

Students will gain knowledge and skills in the use of basic tools, techniques, technologies, and processes used in photography. Students will investigate their own photographic process as they take their work from concept to finished product. Prerequisite: SAR281. Fall Semester, odd numbered years. 3 credits. Fee.

Advanced Photography (SAR 470)

Students will be challenged to expand their personal photographic vision through project-based assignments. Advanced digital camera methods will be explored. Students will use creative techniques in image making and post processing with applications such as Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. Prerequisite: SAR316. Fall semesters, even numbered years. 3 credits. Repeatable for credit. Fee.
