Men's Lacrosse Wins Conference Championship, Will Host NCAA Tournament Game May 12

For the second year in a row, the Seton Hill Men's Lacrosse team won the Greater Midwest Athletic Conference title game by defeating Mercyhurst University. The game was held on May 5 at Dick's Sporting Goods Field on the Seton Hill campus. 

The win earned the Griffins a bid in the NCAA Division II Men's Lacrosse Tournament for the second time in school history. 

The Griffins, who have won fifteen games in a row were named the two seed in the North Region.  SHU will host No. 3 seed LeMoyne on Saturday, May 12th in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.  Game time will be announced at a later date.

Seton Hill enters the tournament with a 16-1 record as the G-MAC Champions after defeating Mercyhurst 12-5 on Saturday afternoon.  LeMoyne comes into the tournament with a 15-1 record.  The Dolphins were the number one team in the region until a 9-8 overtime loss to St Anselm in the Northeast-10 Conference Semifinal. 

The No. 1 seed in the North Region is Merrimack.  The Warriors will host No. 4 seed NYIT in the other first-round matchup. 

Lenoir Rhyne, the only team to defeat the Griffins this season, earned the No. 1 seed in the South Region where they will host Colorado Mesa in the first round.  No. 2 seed Saint Leo will host No. 3 seed Tampa in the other first-round game.

The Griffins first trip to the NCAA Tournament was in 2013.  SHU was defeated by Limestone 16-13 in the first round of the tourney. 

The highest remaining seed will host the semifinals on either May 19th or 20th.  The NCAA Division II Championship Game will be played at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts on May 27th.
