Lloyd Gibson, D.Sc., director of the Master of Business Administration Program and assistant professor of business at Seton Hill University, and his wife, Regina Gibson, D.Sc., received the Best Paper Award in the research category at the 49th Annual Conference of the International Association for Computer Information Systems (IACIS). The award is for the best paper reporting original research and is selected from the papers submitted for presentation at the conference.

The IACIS conference was held September 30-October 2 in Pittsburgh, Pa., and attended by 175 educators, researches, and practitioners from nine countries. IACIS is a non-profit organization that encourages membership from the international community of computer professionals and educators. The annual conference provides a forum for interpersonal networking and the sharing of research, teaching, and technical information.

Gibson and his wife, Regina, are the co-authors of the two papers they presented at the conference, “Chinese American Online Banking: Multicultural Acceptance of Information Technology” and “Online Mentoring Acceptance by Women Professionals,” which was selected for the Best Paper Award. The papers will be published in Issues in Information Systems, which is an official publication of IACIS.

Gibson has 28 years of banking experience, including 14 years as the president and CEO of three different community banks. He has also worked as a senior credit officer, chief lending officer, and head of commercial lending. Gibson obtained both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts degrees in mathematics from the University of Pittsburgh. He earned his Master of Business Administration degree with a major in finance and public management from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business. Gibson received his Doctor of Science in Information Systems and Communications from Robert Morris University. He currently serves as a trustee on the board of Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation.
