A Two-Day Intensive Workshop for Instrumental Music Educators

July 13-14, 2023, 9 am - 4 pm

Location: Seton Hill University Performing Arts Center

Fee: $250 (includes lunch)

Act 48 Credits

This two-day event is focused on essential musicianship and technical skills for instrumental band settings. Day 1 is focused on instrument specific support and features Seton Hill’s adjunct faculty members. The topics addressed on Day 1 will help music educators meet the individual technical skill needs of students on flute, oboe, bassoon, saxophone, and low brass. Day 2 is catered to the instrumental band large ensemble to support individual and group musicianship skill development. Dr. Colleen Conway (University of Michigan) and Dr. Jessica Vaughan-Marra (Seton Hill University) are presenting a series of sessions on the ways to integrate singing, chanting, movement, and play into the band ensemble setting. These practices engage students in aural skills that build independent musicianship for lifelong music learning.
