Maria Stone is the Director of the Seton Hill University Child Development Center located on campus. As the lab school's director, she is responsible for managing the center, teaching 3-5 year olds, and supporting University students in various capacities as they complete practicums, teaching experiences, internships, capstones, and student teaching. After completing her Bachelors Degree in 2008 and Masters Degree in 2012 at the University of Pittsburgh - Main Campus, Mrs. Stone worked at Congregation Beth Shalom Early Learning Center in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh. In addition to teaching in various classrooms since 2009, she served as the Assistant Director of the 150-student school until joining Seton Hill University in 2016. In her role as Director, Mrs. Stone has taught preschoolers and prekindergarten students using developmentally appropriate practices, supervised and mentored University students employed and volunteering in the Center as assistant teachers, served as a cooperating teacher for student teachers, and facilitated pre-service teachers carry out their lessons as part of their coursework. Additionally, she is an adjunct faculty member teaching Child Care Administration.
