Jorie Butler-Geyer

Born into a musical family, violinist Jorie Butler-Geyer has toured France, the Netherlands, China, Korea, and Central Europe as a leader with multiple ensembles. She has performed under the batons of Ricardo Muti and Gustavo Dudamel, and recently made her Carnegie Hall debut with the Shepherd School of Music Symphony Orchestra. Winner of the DePaul University Oistrakh Competition in Chicago and semi-finalist in the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, Ms. Butler-Geyer is an avid orchestral musician as well as a core member/soloist with Houston-based New Music Ensemble Hear & Now. In the summers, she has studied and performed at Aspen, the American Institute of Musical Studies (AIMS) in Austria, Banff Centre, Chautauqua, and the NAC Young Artist programs. Ms. Butler-Geyer received her Bachelor's Degree with honors from Rice University, and is in the process of completing her Master's Degree there as well. Her teachers include Paul Kantor and Almita Vamos.
