Art in the Community

Seton Hill University art, music and theatre students make a difference by bringing the power of the arts to underserved youth in Pittsburgh and Westmoreland County. The Seton Arts Service Corps is a cooperative program of the Sisters of Charity and Seton Hill University to use the power of the arts to help transform lives. Seton Hill students use their art-making skills to continue the traditions of service of the Sisters of Charity with youth in targeted areas.

The program provides the following benefits to students (Seton Arts Scholars) from the School of Visual and Performing Arts:

  • A broader understanding of the role of the arts in addressing community needs.
  • Service-learning opportunities in the arts.
  • An understanding of the risk factors at play in urban communities.
  • Experience teaching youth in the arts.
