Seton Hill University Harlan Gallery to Host “Soulbeats: Expressions of the Spirit in Fiber” Exhibit

Seton Hill University’s Harlan Gallery will host the Fiberarts Guild of Pittsburgh (FGP) for their annual juried members’ exhibition, titled “Soulbeats: Expressions of the Spirit in Fiber.” The exhibition will run from February 10 to March 20 with an opening reception on February 10 from 4 to 7 p.m. and a closing reception with Artists’ Talks March 20 from 1 to 3 p.m.

Internationally acclaimed juror, Jacobo Alonso of Mexico, selected works which, in addition to technical skill, offered a vision that reflected the impact of the current world.

“I was interested in works that could capture the uniqueness of the brief moment in the world that we have been given to experience,” Alonso said.

The Fiberarts Guild of Pittsburgh is a non-profit, member-supported organization that provides a nurturing community for artists and others interested in exploring the medium of fiber. Members of the Guild bring talents from across the fiber spectrum, including lace making, basketry, embroidery, beading, knitting and crochet, book arts, felting, dyeing, paper art, clothing design, quilting, spinning and weaving and more.

The FGP produces juried and non-juried exhibitions of members’ work and hosts monthly talks, critiques, and meet ups in addition to classes so that members can explore new skills. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in working with fiber.

“‘Soulbeats: Expressions of the Spirit in Fiber’ is an opportunity for FGP members to express something deeply personal - the rhythms of their souls in connection to the world around them,” the guild said in a statement. “The FGP would like to thank Seton Hill University for their support of the fiberarts community. We hope that the Soulbeats exhibition will speak to attendees on a personal level and inspire them to create and share something of themselves at a time when creativity is needed more than ever.”
