JetStor Founder Gene Leyzarovich Announces Major Equipment Gift to Seton Hill University
Gene Leyzarovich, founder and former CEO of JetStor visited Seton Hill University to speak with students and announce a significant equipment gift supporting cybersecurity and computer science programs in the School of Business and Technology.
The donation consists of two enterprise-grade 2U, 12-bay JetStor XS3312 iSCSI storage systems: a primary XS3312D system featuring dual controllers and a backup XS3312S system with a single controller. JetStor will also provide JetProtect Enterprise warranty and support program to the University for five years. The new infrastructure will replace older, slower equipment currently supporting the University’s cyber range. By dramatically increasing data processing speeds, the hardware will allow more students to simultaneously conduct large-scale labs and cyber simulations covering cyber defense, digital forensics, disaster recovery, business continuity, and networking.
Leyzarovich, a Russian refugee who founded JetStor while studying at the University of Pittsburgh and working nights at UPMC, serves on Seton Hill’s inaugural School of Business and Technology Advisory Board.

Seton Hill leadership noted the immediate educational and institutional benefits of the technology upgrade.

"While our previous equipment provided basic storage capacity, it did not provide the speed necessary for the complex simulations we are integrating into our curriculum," said Dr. Matthew Kisow, Associate Professor of Cybersecurity. “These high-performance JetStor systems will allow us to run simultaneous, multi-user exercises in cyber defense, digital forensics, and disaster recovery, mirroring the exact technical environments our graduates will manage in the field."

As part of his visit, Leyzarovich offered a guest lecture in Dr. Kisow’s Computer Networks: Wired & Wireless class, covering physical infrastructure, network media, shared storage, and enterprise architecture.
Installation of the new XS3312 systems is scheduled to be completed for student use by late fall or early spring.
