Business Ethics Expert Paul Fiorelli to Present Farrell Lecture 10/22

Seton Hill University’s School of Business and Technology will present the Farrell Lecture presented by retired Xavier University professor and ethics expert Paul Fiorelli, JD, MBA, CCEP on Thursday, October 22, 2026 at 7 p.m. in Cecilian Hall on the Second Floor of Seton Hill’s Administration Building. Fiorelli will speak on the topic, “Why Good People Do Bad Things.”

The Farrell Lecture is free and open to the public. Registration for either the in-person or virtual event can be made here. 

“We are delighted to have nationally-recognized ethics expert Paul Fiorelli present the 2026 Farrell Lecture and offer our students valuable insights on the importance of ethical decision-making and leadership as it aligns with the values-based education we offer at Seton Hill,” Seton Hill President Mary C. Finger said. “Having spent decades advising major organizations, researching corporate compliance, and earning national acclaim for his contributions to business ethics, his presentation offers an incredible opportunity for our students to learn directly from a pioneer in the field.”

“‘Why Good People Do Bad Things’ will examine why well-meaning individuals make poor ethical choices and what steps we can take to prevent misconduct,” Fiorelli said. “I will also highlight how Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton’s timeless values and leadership offer a meaningful framework for resolving today's toughest ethical questions.”

About the Speaker

Paul Fiorelli retired in June 2026 after a distinguished career at Xavier University, where he served as Director of the Cintas Institute for Business Ethics and a tenured Professor.

A Supreme Court Fellow assigned to the United States Sentencing Commission, Fiorelli received “The Thomas Clark Fellow Award” from Chief Justice Rehnquist during his fellowship year. He was also honored with the 2007 International Compliance Award from the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics.

At Xavier, Fiorelli received numerous teaching awards, including the 2023 MBA Professor of the Year. His book, “Establishing Workplace Integrity: Six Lessons in Values-Based Leadership,” was published in 2024.

Since retiring from Xavier, Fiorelli started a new business, Biz Ethics Training, focusing on keynote speeches and continuing education courses regarding ethics, compliance and corporate culture for Fortune 500 companies, professional organizations, and non-profit groups.
