Seton Hill University Named a 2026-2027 College of Distinction

Colleges of Distinction has named Seton Hill University a College of Distinction for the 2026-2027 academic year, a national recognition of its engaging, student-first undergraduate experience.

This is the eighth consecutive year Seton Hill has been selected by the Colleges of Distinction, which also recognized the University in several specialized categories, including the Business, Education and Nursing programs, Career Development and Equity & Inclusion.

“We are pleased Seton Hill was recognized by Colleges of Distinction as a 2026-27 College of Distinction,” said Seton Hill President Mary C. Finger, Ed.D. “Our mission is rooted in preparing students not just for today’s world, but for the world that is coming - a vision first articulated by our namesake, Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton. This designation reflects our commitment to providing students with the resources needed to succeed both in their time as undergraduates and in a rapidly changing global economy. Employers consistently tell us that our graduates can not only perform their jobs successfully, but that they can also communicate effectively, solve problems, reason critically, and present themselves well.”

The program recognitions are based on accreditation, high-impact learning experiences including practical and hands-on experience, how prepared graduates are to enter the workforce, and industry connections. Career Development recognition evaluates how integrated and accessible career exploration and preparation are throughout the student experience, and Equity & Inclusion notes how available education to students of all backgrounds, as well as how accessible financial and academic resources are to support students from enrollment through graduation.

“Today’s students are navigating a college landscape shaped by rising costs, rapid technological change, and real uncertainty about the future of work,” said Tyson Schritter, Chief Operating Officer at Colleges of Distinction. “What they need from higher education isn’t just a credential, but preparation for the world ahead. Seton Hill University delivers that through the kind of intentional, high-impact education that equips students for whatever comes next.”

Colleges of Distinction’s selection process consists of in-depth research and direct interviews with each institution, based on what it calls its four distinctions: engaged students, great teaching, vibrant community, and successful outcomes. From undergraduate research and collaborative coursework to immersive service-learning and mentored internships, this designation is a reflection that Seton Hill students are active participants in their education.
