Out of the Classroom and Into the World: Study Abroad Program visits Costa Rica, British Isles, Morocco, Canary Islands and London
Seton Hill University’s Study Abroad Program gives students the opportunity to immerse themselves in their education outside of the classroom. Running multiple trips a year, the program provides many chances for students to expand their horizons. Each trip is accompanied by classes that students can choose to take for credit. Some trips even provide service project opportunities.
This year, the program ran four spring trips.
Costa Rica - The group explored the jungle, immersed themselves in the culture, and supported the local community. Griffins planted trees with students from La Fortuna High School. They got the chance to talk to them about the Costa Rican educational system. The group’s adventure also included visiting coffee and sugarcane farms, seeing a volcano, and visiting Maleku Indigenous Village.

Global Topics in Criminal Justice, taught by Dr. Shavonne Arthurs
Special Topics: Environmental Psychology, taught by Dr. Abby Boytos
British Isles - The group visited Wales, Scotland, Ireland and England. Students viewed incredible natural views and historic castles, enjoyed local cuisine and culture, and interacted with native wildlife.

Topics in Philosophy - Philosophy of the British Isles, taught by Dr. Jen Jones
International Marketing, taught by Dr. Catie Clark-Gordon
Canary Islands & Morocco - Students explored the city and met locals, rode camels in the desert, and saw where the Mediterranean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean. Students also took part in a cooking class and an Arabic language class.

London - In London, students immersed themselves in the local theatre culture. They visited Olivier Theatre, saw Wicked, and even ran into Pittsburgh native, Billy Porter. They also got to visit historic landmarks and buildings, as well as enjoy local museums.

Theatre History & Dramatic Lit- Renaissance to Modern, taught by Karen Glass
