Test-Optional Application Information
Applying to Seton Hill Without ACT or SAT Scores
Seton Hill University offers a test-optional admissions policy, giving most applicants the choice of whether to submit SAT or ACT scores. Students with a cumulative high school GPA of 2.50 or higher who don’t have test scores - or feel their scores don’t reflect their true academic potential - may apply as test-optional applicants. This policy is designed to provide flexibility, allowing students to highlight their strengths and showcase their achievements in the way that best represents them.
Test-Optional Admission Requirements
Students opting for test-optional admission will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and will need to submit:
- A completed Seton Hill application.
- An official high school transcript or GED certificate.
Applicants may be asked to provide supplemental materials including:
- Academic Background Video - a short personal overview of your educational journey.
- A letter of recommendation from a teacher or school counselor.
- Report of grades from the first half of senior year.
- Essay or personal statement of 200 words or more. You may respond to one of the following optional prompts, or choose a topic that allows us to get to know you better:
- Explain who you are as a student right now, and what attending college means to you. If you choose Seton Hill University, who do you hope to become during your time here?
- Describe something you are passionate about (academics, extracurriculars, personal interests, etc.). How does this passion connect to who you are or your future goals?
- Share a challenge you have faced and how it has shaped you as a learner, leader, or individual.
- What excites you most about your future, and how do you see Seton Hill helping you move toward it?
Program-Specific Requirements
Some majors have different admission guidelines. For example:
- Certain programs may still require minimum SAT or ACT scores.
- Others may have their own test-optional requirements that differ from the general policy.
- Be sure to check the specific requirements for your program of interest, or check with your Admissions Counselor.
