TEACHING PHILOSOPHY:
I believe that education is a very individual experience. I recognize that each one of my students have different methods of learning and teach them accordingly in the way that will benefit them and help them grow the most as musicians. It is a goal for all of my students to be complete musicians. Developing musicianship, including but not limited to musical interpretation, ear-training, theory and history, is crucial to learning to play an instrument and learning to sing.
STUDIO EXPECTATIONS:
I run a very formal studio. All of my students are expected to practice regularly and are encouraged to participate in performance opportunities, especially those provided through the Community Music Program. Clarinet choir acceptance is by audition only. Those in clarinet choir are expected to practice their music at home regularly and show up to rehearsal ready to perform.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
I have seven years of experience teaching private lessons and four years of experience teaching in a classroom. My private teaching experience includes: clarinet, piano, voice and saxophone. My classroom experience includes chorus, band and general music at both middle school and elementary levels.
