A Message from President Mary C. Finger, Ed. D.

Seton Hill University continues to transform itself in the best tradition of our founders, the Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill. The Sisters were always looking ahead. They were never content with where they were; they were always moving toward the next challenge.

Indeed, Seton Hill University has successfully met many challenges that the great majority of private colleges and universities in the United States are facing with creativity and a deep commitment to mission.

Whether implementing new academic programs of the highest quality, developing creative partnerships, building needed beautiful academic facilities on the Hill and in the City of Greensburg, or becoming a leader in academic technology, Seton Hill remains in a state of renewal.

Through our academics—faculty, programs and facilities—we prepare our students for the workplace and graduate school. The totality of the Seton Hill experience encompasses living and learning inside and outside the classroom. Our students, faculty and staff are making global connections through exchange programs, study abroad and service opportunities. They are traveling to Paris to learn about art and serving those in poverty in Nicaragua and Guatemala. And, they are learning about the world through their interactions with each other. This year, we welcomed a record number of international students to our increasingly diverse campus.

Our students are recognized for their academic and artistic achievements at the state and national levels and our student-athletes are finding success both in the classroom and on the playing field. In Seton Hill’s first year as a member of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, our student-athletes had the highest combined GPA among member schools.

While Seton Hill continues to expand, both in size and in prominence, we maintain our mission as a Catholic, liberal arts institution dedicated to preparing students for the world in which they are destined to live. The Sisters of Charity of Seton Hill remain actively engaged in the life of this University. Their pioneering spirit, their zeal to seek the next challenge—and always look ahead—guides all that we do at Seton Hill.

We are a University where students are well-educated and well-equipped to ask the right questions, to make moral choices and ultimately to do their part to transform the world.

Thank you for your interest in learning more about our special University. Welcome to Seton Hill.

Sincerely,

Mary C. Finger, Ed.D.

Seton Hill President
