The Youth Honors Band, part of the Community Arts program at Seton Hill, began 20 years ago as an honors band for students of local Catholic schools. After a few years, it was opened to all students in the area. Kathleen Campbell, associate professor of music at Seton Hill University, has been involved from the beginning, starting this program just a few years after she began the Westmoreland Symphonic Winds, the wind ensemble in residence at Seton Hill. Through the years there have been various guest conductors, with Dr. Theodore DiSanti, Seton Hill University associate professor of music, conducting last year’s group. This year’s conductor, Mr. Kevin McManus, is an adjunct professor of trombone at Seton Hill, where he teaches trombone and is the director of the jazz ensemble.
