Seton Hill Music Program March Concerts Announced

The Westmoreland Symphonic Winds will present “From Sea to Shining Sea” March 18 at 8 p.m. in Cecilian Hall on Seton Hill University’s Greensburg, Pa. campus. Admission to the concert is $8; $6 for students and senior citizens. Tickets can be purchased in advance by contacting the Music Department office at 724-838-4280. Tickets will also be available at the door. The concert will feature “A Hymn to New England” by John Williams, Kenneth Singleton’s setting of “The Promise of Living” by Aaron Copland, “Fiesta Del Pacifico” by Roger Nixon, Frank Ticheli’s setting of “Cajun Folk Songs,” Jack Stamp’s “Four Maryland Songs” and the familiar Carmen Dragon setting of “America, The Beautiful.”

Sunday, March 19, 4 p.m., Cecilian Hall - “Sing and Ring” A performance by the University Choir, Women’s Chorale and Handbell Choir, directed by Marvin Huls, in conjunction with the Westmoreland Children’s Chorus directed by Shirley Huls and the Westmoreland Apprentice Chorus directed by Linda Cobaugh. Friday, March 24, 8 p.m., St. Joseph Chapel – “Orgelfest III” Seton Hill students perform a varied program on the Alan Sterner 82 rank digital organ, with Aeolian-Skinner voices by Walker. Free and open to the public. 724-838-4280.

Friday, March 31, 8 p.m., St. Joseph Chapel – “Annual Scholarship Recital to Benefit Sacred Music Students” The Seton Hill University – Westmoreland County Chapter of the American Guild of Organists presents its annual recital to benefit Seton Hill sacred music students. Guest organist for the recital is J. Christopher Pardini, director of music and organist at Shadyside Presbyterian Church. Mr. Pardini is assisted in the program by baritone Dr. Curt Scheib, chair of the Division of Visual and Performing Arts at Seton Hill and soprano Crystal Stryker, Seton Hill alumna and soprano soloist at Shadyside Presbyterian Church. Donation at the door is $10.
