The Master of Arts in Art Therapy Program at Seton Hill University will host an exhibit titled “Shelter,” on Friday, November 6, from 5-8 p.m. at the University’s Visual Arts Center, located at 215 South Pennsylvania Avenue in Greensburg, Pa. A reception will be held from 5-7 p.m. The exhibit is open to the public and there is no charge to attend. For more information, contact 724-830-1047.

“Shelter” will feature work completed by participants at the Open Studio, which is located in the Mercy Behavioral Health Wellspring Drop in Center in Pittsburgh, Pa. Seton Hill University art therapy graduate student Rebecca Rentz, of Greensburg, Pa., operates Open Studio.

The Mercy Behavioral Health Wellspring Drop in Center provides drop-in socialization as well as rehabilitation groups and individual case management services for people who are homeless, mentally ill, and/or substance abusers. Wellspring Drop in Center also has limited mobile outreach services specializing in assistance for homeless women and children. Wellspring Drop in Center is a collaborative partner with Bethlehem Haven.

Bethlehem Haven is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization providing a number of services including emergency shelter; transitional housing; medical, dental, obstetrics and mental health services; and employment services to women in the Pittsburgh, Pa., area.

Seton Hill University’s Master of Arts degree in art therapy with a specialization in counseling program couples a strong foundation in counseling with an in-depth exploration of art therapy theory and practice. Approved by the American Art Therapy Association and designed to develop compassionate scholar-practitioners, the Art Therapy Program classes are taught by credentialed professionals in the fields of art therapy, counseling, psychology, and marriage and family therapy. Graduates of Seton Hill’s program are eligible to become Registered and Board Certified (ATR- BC) with the Art Therapy Credentials Board and obtain Professional Counseling Licensure (LPC) in the state of Pennsylvania.
