At approximately 9:00 a.m. this morning a bus carrying the Seton Hill University’s women’s lacrosse team was in accident that occurred in Cumberland County, Pa. The accident occurred on the Pennsylvania Turnpike near Carlisle, Pa. The bus was chartered through Mlaker Charter and Tours of Davidsville, Pa. The team was traveling to a NCAA-II match in Millersville University, Pa.

At this time, Seton Hill University has learned that the bus driver died of injuries sustained in the crash. The University also understands that at least three individuals were injured seriously and transported by medical helicopters and/or ambulances. Those three individuals were taken to Hershey Medical Center. According to Cumberland County Public Information Officer Megan Silverstrim, other individuals with minor injuries were transported as follows: eight were taken to Carlisle Regional Medical Center, seven to Harrisburg Hospital and four to Holy Spirit.

Seton Hill administrators used the E-2 Campus system, campus e-mail and phone calls to communicate the seriousness of the accident to students on campus. The University’s Associate Dean of Students is en route to Cumberland County to assist students and their families.
