GREENSBURG, PA- Dan McCarty, men’s soccer and golf coach at Seton Hill College, recently announced that the inaugural men’s soccer team has attracted 43 men from across the United States. Thus far, 19 of those recruits have deposited for the fall semester including local high school stars: John Clatty of Greensburg Central Catholic High School, Braden Romito and John Eckert of Charleroi High School, Jason Eisler of Greensburg Salem High School, Randall Higgins of Mt. Pleasant Area High School, Dustin Terhorst and Josh Sobota of Derry Area High School, Ryan McCandless and Mike Whiteman of Norwin High School, Michael Fecik of Plum High School and Armand Leonelli of Uniontown High School.

Local high school golfers who have deposited include: James Nash of Monesson High School, Gregg Martin and Mark Moatz of Thomas Jefferson High School, and Nicholas Langham and Jordan Chandler of Indiana Area High School.

“Most of the recruits are from the local region, but we’ve had interest from players as far as Massachusetts, Georgia and the Virgin Islands,” McCarty said who began his newly created position in September. “The soccer community is tight-knit, so the word is getting out about our new team, and many players are contacting us now.”

McCarty said: “The men players are interested in coming to Seton Hill for its strong academic programs and commitment to technology across the campus. We have been recruiting young men who are strong academically and solid team players. I think people will be surprised and pleased by our level of competition in the fall. The athletes are thrilled to have the chance to build new teams for Seton Hill and have immediate playing time as well.”
