Seton Hill’s Kindergarten has been chosen to participate in the Student Signatures in Space project, which gives students the opportunity to send their personal signatures into space as part of the manifest of a U.S. space shuttle mission. After the mission, a poster signed by all students will be returned to the kindergarten for display, along with official NASA certification verifying that the signatures flew in space, and a photo of the shuttle crew. The program is sponsored by Lockheed Martin and NASA. Seton Hill’s Kindergarten students will be signing the poster for the program on Thursday, May 4.

“Student Signatures in Space is a lot of fun for kids as well as teachers, but more importantly, it sparks student interest in the space program, creates a connection to math and science studies, and brings it all home on a personal level,” said April Tensen, coordinator of the Student Signatures in Space program.

“Our Kindergarten does a ‘Space Unit’ during the month of March,” said Kaye Fierle, Director of Seton Hill’s Kindergarten, “and they’re excited about this project. We’ll sign the poster for Student Signatures in Space in celebration of Space Day.”
