What: Members of the Seton Hill University community will participate in the Westmoreland County Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day event, A Night at the Circus.

When: May 9, 2014 from 4 to 8 p.m.

Where: Hempfield Church of Christ (behind WOW outlets), 144 Hugh Black Road, Greensburg, Pa.

Who: Students from Seton Hill University’s art therapy, dance, education and theatre programs will be assisting at the event.

Background: Seton Hill University is collaborating with the Westmoreland County Behavioral Health and Developmental Services Department" as well as more than 30 area Behavioral Health Providers to host an evening of games, activities, dance theatre and art with the theme of A Night at the Circus. Informational tables will provide an overview of mental wellness resources available to area families.

The Seton Hill Dance Club will be coordinating a line dance for the children in attendance. Students from the Seton Hill Education Club and the "Art, Music, and Movement" early childhood class will provide craft making opportunities. The University’s art therapy students will host a mural making area, and the Student Theatre Activities Council will be presenting an interactive theatre skit and playing theatre games.

National Children's Mental Health Awareness Day is coordinated nationally by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. More than 1,100 communities, and 136 national collaborating organizations will celebrate the 2014 National Children's Mental Health Awareness Day: Inspiring Resilience, Creating Hope.
