GREENSBURG, PA- Seton Hill College will host the 2001 Westmoreland County Regional Pennsylvania Citizen Bee Competition on Friday, March 23rd at 9:00 a.m. The Bee will be held in Room 228 of Maura Hall. Students from local high schools including: Belle Vernon Area, Connellsville Area, Greensburg Central Catholic, Greensburg Salem, Kiski Area and Yough Area. Judges for the Citizen Bee are: Dr. Michael Cary, associate professor of political science at Seton Hill; Annie Macher, education program manager for the World Affairs Council; and Misty Hegan, Tribune-Review promotions coordinator. The Citizen Bee is a state competition based on American political and cultural history, government, geography, economics, Pennsylvania studies and current events. It is designed to stimulate greater understanding of our American heritage and the issues facing our country. It is also an opportunity to recognize academic achievement of young people. The Citizen Bee experience involves students, educators, families and the community in the acquisition of knowledge and skills essential for effective citizenship. The event is sponsored by the Tribune-Review, Seton Hill College and the World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh.
