Laura Sloan Patterson, Ph.D., associate professor of English and director of undergraduate writing at Seton Hill University, was one of 30 applicants selected to participate in Yale University’s Faculty Seminar on Slave Narratives June 7-10, which was hosted by the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History and the Council of Independent Colleges.

The seminar, led by Dr. David Blight, professor of American history at Yale University, brought together a diverse group of full-time faculty members in the fields of English, history, African studies, and American studies to address innovative methods of teaching and researching slave narratives in a variety of disciplines.
