Seton Hill University student Alicia Smith, of Hollidaysburg, Pa., was awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Cheerleaders Academic Excellence Fund. This scholarship is presented annually to the Seton Hill University cheerleader with the highest grade point average. The Cheerleaders Academic Excellence Fund is made possible through a gift from Eric Tepper, of Derry, Pa., in memory of Seton Hill University alumna Geneva Miedel, class of 1975.

Smith, who is the daughter of Tom Smith of Altoona, Pa., and Debbie Smith of Hollidaysburg, Pa., is a junior music education major at Seton Hill University and is maintaining a 3.8 grade point average. In addition to her active participation with the Seton Hill University Cheer Squad, Smith is the president of Seton Hill University’s National Association for Music Education Chapter. Smith is a 2007 graduate of Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School.
