Hanna’s Town, founded in 1773, served as the first seat of county government and the first English court west of the Allegheny Mountains. The settlement was destroyed by a British and Native American war party on July 13, 1782, in one of the last battles of the Revolution. The Society provides interpretive educational programs from May through October related to life on the colonial frontier of western Pennsylvania. Historic Hanna’s Town is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Anyone who is interested in volunteering at the site this summer should call Joanna Moyar, Education Coordinator at 724-836-1800 x12 for information about the schedule, and to register for the training sessions, which begin Saturday, April 14th.
