This past Saturday the Seton Hill men and women's track and field teams kicked off the second semester indoor portion of the track and field schedule at The Marietta College Open.  On the day the men and women set or tied five new SHU school records and senior Calsie Boyd bettered her NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the triple jump with a mark of 11.70m (38-4.75) good for first overall and well as a meet best in the high jump clearing the bar at 1.60m (5-3).  Vicki Miller won the weight throw with a new SHU school record with a distance of 13.93m (45-8.50) and finished second in the shot put also setting a new school record with a throw of 12.04m (39-6).  Martina Milcic finished third overall in the shot put with a throw of 11.74m (38-6.25), Shannon Powell finished 5th in the high jump, 6th in the long jump and 4th in the triple jump, Alexis Hawkins finished second in the long jump, Toni Davison finished in the fourth spot in the women's pole vault and to round out the field events for the women, Melissa Segraves finished in eighth place in the long jump.  On the track the women were not to be out done with top finishes from Melissa Segraves and Nina Gladysiewski in the 55m fourth and seventh overall, Segraves won the women's 200m with a time of 27.89, Chelsea Cavanaugh won the 400m finishing the two laps in 1:01.80, Megan Cala finished second in the 800m with a season best time 2:22.42, Sarah Burkett finished 5th in the mile, Jeannie Bujdos won the 3000m race and teammates Mary Janak and Leah Schott finished third and fourth respectively.  Freshmen Emily Dempsey and Morgan Petro finished in third and fourth place in the 5000m, the women's 4x400m relay team of Meagan Carter, Chelsea Cavanaugh, Nina Gladysiewski and Alexis Hawkins finished first over all as well as the women's distance medley relay team of Meagan Carter, Megan Cala, Jeannie Bujdos and Chelsea Cavanaugh.  On the men's side Senior Aron Kurzinski set a new SHU 55m sprint record with a time of 6.61 which was the top time on the day, Nick Spino finished third in the 300m, and set a new SHU record in the 55m hurdles with a third place overall time of 7.89, Steve Carr won the 400m race, Dom Marinello finished 4th overall in the event as well, Mike Metosky finished third in the 500m, Josh Davis was the 800m individual champion on the day running a season best 1:57.86, Dom Camasso returned to the track after a year layoff in the 5000m with a fourth best time of 16:06.86, Anthony Phillips, Terry Jackson finished fourth and fifth in the 55m hurdles, Richie Padyjasek finished sixth in the hurdle race as well as second in the long jump and third in the triple jump, the men's 4x400m relay team of Spino, Carr, Algeron Johnson and Phillips finished first overall as did the distance medley relay team of Austin Rigsby, Riley Giaquinto, Mike Metosky and Steve Lafferty.  In the field events, Algeron Johnson finished second overall in the pole vault tying the seton hill indoor school record of 4.35m (14-3.25), Nick Latty tied for first in the high jump, Chalin Giles finished first overall in the triple jump with a career best mark of 13.00m (42-8) and Prince Antwi capped off his day with an eighth place finish in the shot put.  Both teams will be in action this Friday as they get set to compete at the Youngstown State Invitational beginning at 3:00pm.
