Board Welcomes Former Steeler and Current Senior Managing Director of Mesirow Financial at June 13 Meeting

Seton Hill University's Board of Trustees officially welcomed new member Dwight White at its June 13 meeting.

A member of the notorious “Steel Curtain” Steeler defense of the 70s, White is well known for his outstanding career in the National Football League. Drafted by the Steelers in 1971, White became an All-Pro defensive lineman, played in five AFC Championships, two Pro Bowls and four Super Bowls, and also earned the distinction of scoring the first safety in Super Bowl history.

White entered a career in the securities industry after retiring from football in 1981. He began his new career as a stockbroker for Prudential-Bache and then joined Daniels & Bell, the first minority-owned member firm of the New York Stock Exchange, in 1985. White was named president/CEO of Daniels & Bell in 1988. White became senior vice president/principal for W.R. Lazard in 1994, and since 1997 has been senior managing director for the Pittsburgh office of Mesirow Financial.

White's numerous community service initiatives include serving as the chair of the PACE School walkathon for the past three years and serving (with his wife, Karen) as capital campaign co-chair for Pittsburgh's new African American Cultural Center. White also serves on the Governor's Advisory Council on Physical Fitness and has previously served on the boards of the Bradley Center and the Community College of Allegheny County Foundation.

White has made Pittsburgh his home, and resides here with his wife Karen and daughter Stacey.
