The JoAnne Boyle World Affairs Forum at Seton Hill University will host “Community Activism: Focus On Renewal” on Monday, April 28, 2008. This free public event will take place at 7 p.m. in Reeves Memorial Library on Seton Hill’s Greensburg, Pa. campus.

Father Regis Ryan is executive director of Focus On Renewal (FOR) in the Sto-Rox community of McKees Rocks, Pa. FOR is a community action service for the health and social service needs in Sto-Rox. In 1969, Fr. Ryan took the initiative to begin working with local business, community, government, and service institutions to help local citizens provide for their own needs through community action. Today, FOR is a dynamic and thriving demonstration of what an individual can do through community activism to help move a community forward. The JoAnne Boyle World Affairs Forum was named by the University faculty and is dedicated to Seton Hill University President JoAnne Boyle, who consistently encourages every member of the academic community to be an informed global citizen. The forum series brings speakers and artists to Westmoreland County to address global issues. For more information about the forum or the panel, please e-mail WorldAffairsForum@setonhill.edu.
