About the Band

 Founded in 1989, the Youth Honors Band is an enriching opportunity for student musicians in grades 6-8. After the initial audition, selected band students meet for three rehearsals, the last culminating with a banquet and concert at Seton Hill University’s Performing Arts Center.  Dr. Christopher M. Marra, Director of Instrumental Activities at Seton Hill University directs the band.

Auditions are held in early November and rehearsals are December, January and February. The concert is part of the day of the last rehearsal and is free and open to the public.  There is a fee of $7 to audition and a fee of $58 to participate if selected for the band.  Students selected for both the Youth Honors Jazz and Concert Bands pay a discounted fee of $70.  Information on fees, schedules, and policies can be found on the audition application.
