Psych & Social Work Majors Do Their Own Research Into Food Insecurity

As psychology and social work majors Maryanne White, Simone Vivio and Lauren Swaney learned about the number of American citizens who can’t get the food they need, they kept asking themselves “why?”  They decided to find out for themselves by collaborating on a research project: “Unmasking Food Insecurities in Westmoreland County.”

The research – which they completed on their own, not as a class project – turned out to be so impactful that they had the honor of presenting it at a Social Work Conference in Atlanta, Georgia in March 2018.
