In Her Own Words: Math & Computer Science Grad Preparing for Career in Big Data

“After graduating from Seton Hill, I immediately entered into graduate school to study statistical computing and data mining at the University of Central Florida. While in graduate school, I'm also a graduate teaching assistant for introductory statistics courses. I'm excited for the path that I am taking in that statistics and big data is a booming field in various sectors of industry, and after I graduate, I am poised to apply for any number of positions from any number of companies. However, I would not have been able to excel in this program were it not for the preparation I received in obtaining both my mathematics and computer science degrees from Seton Hill. The quantitative and analytical skills that I developed through these classes have been instrumental to my success in graduate school, and will be pivotal in my future career.”

Jackie Yanchuck graduated from Seton Hill summa cum laude in 2014 with bachelor’s degrees in math and computer science and a minor in Spanish.
