Elizabeth Rettger (SHU 10) Skillfully Balances Accounting Job and Volunteering

30 under 30 logoAccounting major Elizabeth Rettger’s involvement in numerous campus activities during her time at Seton Hill – from student government to the dance team to the Setonian – prepared her for a professional and volunteer schedule that continues to keep her busy.

Elizabeth began her accounting career at a small Pittsburgh firm before accepting a job at PricewaterhouseCoopers in 2012. Within two years, she was promoted to a senior accounting position.

She still finds time for lots of extracurricular activities, though, just like when she was in college. Her work at the Sarah Heinz House – which provides development services to children – even earned her a recent Jefferson Award, which honors volunteerism in America. Elizabeth also serves on the board of the Boys and Girls Club of Western Pennsylvania, volunteers with the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and assists with Habitat for Humanity.

Through her job, Elizabeth has done some international travel. Her company sent her and a few hundred other employees to Central America on the Project Belize mission, where they taught Belize citizens about financial literacy.

Seton Hill’s young alumni are making their mark on the world through their work in science and healthcare, finance and business, industry, entertainment and service to those in need. The Spring/Winter 2017 edition of Seton Hill’s Forward magazine featured 30 of these alumni, all under the age of 30. You can find all of their stories here on Seton Hill’s site (just look for the “30 Under 30” icon).
