Sarah Ferrell (Née Morris) is a native of Jeannette, PA and is an active cellist in the local community. She specializes in teaching cello, coaching string ensembles, and performing in various Chamber groups, and the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra. Prior to her University instruction, Mrs. Ferrell studied privately with Pittsburgh Symphony members Mikhail Istomin and Anne Martindale Williams, and also Northwestern University Professor Hans Jorgen Jensen. Mrs. Ferrell received her B.M. in Cello Performance from the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins University, studying under former Baltimore Symphony Principal Cellist, Mihaly Virizlay, and her M.M. in Cello Performance from Boston University, studying under Muir String Quartet Cellist, Michael Reynolds. She has attended numerous camps and workshops including: Pittsburgh Advanced Chamber Music Seminar, Meadowmount, Encore School for Strings, the Point Chamber Orchestra tour in Italy, and appeared on an HBO special, The Night of Legends. She has performed master classes with Cellists such as David Hardy, Alan Stepansky, Emilio Colon, Pieter Wispelwey, and Yo Yo Ma. Sarah has maintained a private cello studio since 2005 and is currently Adjunct Professor of Cello, and Community Arts Program Instructor at Seton Hill University in Greensburg, PA. In addition, Mrs. Ferrell also teaches with Westmoreland Symphony Academy of Music, and coaches the Westmoreland Youth Symphony Orchestra and Community String Orchestra.
