Katie Hicks began dancing at the age of three in Oil City, PA at Entre Chat. The main instructor was Flo Frost, a ballerina from France. At the age of six, she began taking lessons at Studio 22 with TaMara Swank. Hicks studied with Swank for seven years and Marc Holland for five. She studied ballet technique, pointe, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, tap and modern. While at the studio, she was a dance assistant for three years and an instructor during her senior year. Hicks danced on the competitive team starting at age six. She won many awards for both solo and group competitive numbers. During her senior year she choreographed for the competitive team too. Hicks also has been teaching students ballet, jazz, lyrical, acrobatics, contemporary and tap at the recreational and competitive levels for the last four years with SHUDA. Hicks was formerly a dance instructor at Westmoreland Gymnastics, Greensburg, PA, and she is also a choreographer/coach at Spirit Elite All-Star Cheer Squad, Latrobe, PA. Katie is a 2012 Seton Hill University graduate with a dual certification in Theatre Design & Technology and Dance Choreography. Past performances include Disney Magic Days, "Jazzy Nutcracker," "Dancing for Life", "Dancing for a Cure", "The Grimm Brother's Fairytales: Storytelling Through Dance", "EleMental R/Evolution: The World In Motion", "Dance Spectrum", "Pieces to Peace", "Cabaret", "Moving Pictures", "Lively Arts". In addition to her dancing experience, Katie was a member of her high school competitive cheer squad for five years. Her squad won Nationals in 2009 in Cleveland.
