I am a veteran educator with 25 years of instructional and administrative experience. During my career I have had the honor to teach all of the disciplines within the classification of the Social Studies, hold the position of Chairman of my Social Studies Department, be the Vice-Principal/Dean of Students and Guidance Counselor at one of my assignments. I have also worked in Higher Education as an adjunct Professor in teacher development courses both on the graduate and undergraduate levels. I believe that all members of a school community must be willing to come together in a friendly, professional, and constructive manner with the sole goal of establishing a professional learning community in which all stakeholders can flourish. Although a school is an environment in which everyone can learn regardless of their roles, at the center of every such community is the growth of our students. Therefore, if a school is to be truly successful, everyone must be willing to embrace best practices in education as they relate to student achievement and the general welfare of working conditions for staff and faculty without exception. If educational leaders ignore this vital critical attribute of institutional growth, relationships can become frayed and trust diminished thus limiting the effectiveness of our ability to be true leaders in an age of change. Even though we live in a era of constant change, we must always remember that how successful we are as individuals or as a group is based on the relationships we cultivate and maintain with those around us.
