Jacque Johnston, M.A. Special Education, Seton Hill University, taught general and special education students in the Hempfield Area School District for 15 years until 2015. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Pittsburgh and Seton Hill University earning a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services and a Master of Arts Degree in Special Education. Jacque has been teaching graduate and undergraduate courses at Seton Hill University for 20 years. She holds certifications in Elementary and Special Education K-12, Social Studies 7-12, Mid-Level Math, Mid-Level Science, and Mid-Level English. Jacque has participated in the PASA Project through the University of Pittsburgh for the past 15 years, scoring alternative assessments, reviewing content, and determining cut scores. Jacque has coached Special Olympics sports that include: swimming, golf, bowling, skiing, and track and field for over 20 years. Jacque has integrated technology into the classroom to enhance the potential of students with disabilities. Some of the technology utilized included, AimsWeb, Kurzweil, ALEKS, and Lexia Programs. Monitoring the progress of students with access to technology has been an area of interest to Jacque. Prior to working in the Hempfield Area School District, Jacque was employed by Clelian Heights School for Exception Children in Greensburg, PA. She had an opportunity to work with students with severe and profound disabilities in both academic and life skills settings. She also taught job skills training in both the classroom and community. Before becoming involved in education, Jacque was a domestic and international buyer for Kaufmann's Department Store, the May Company, and Gimbels. She had the opportunity to travel world-wide to countries that included: Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, and Singapore.
