Dr. Craig Ruby is an associate professor and the founding program director for the developing Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. He previously was the program director for the DPT program at Wheeling Jesuit University. Dr. Ruby graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Biology, from Slippery Rock University with a masters degree in physical therapy and from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with Doctorate in Education/Administration and Leadership. As a clinician, Dr. Ruby worked in outpatient orthopedic settings and in home care and specialized in patients with back pain. He has attended multiple continuing education courses and uses his experience and ongoing continuing education in the classroom for the musculoskeletal courses that he teaches. He also teaches content in research, leadership, ethics, legal aspects of practice and management. Dr. Ruby has served as a member and Chair of the Practice and Research Committee for the Pennsylvania Physical Therapy Association, as a Practice Analysis task force member and as an Item writer for the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy and as an On-site review team leader for the Commission on Accreditation for Physical Therapy Education. He has also participated in over 20 international mission trips providing physical therapy care to underserved individuals in the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico and in Chimbote Peru. Dr. Ruby has authored 2 book chapters, several journal articles, and multiple peer reviewed presentations nationally and international on the topics of service learning and musculoskeletal rehabilitation.
