Alvin Simpson is a Community Music Instructor of Trumpet at Seton Hill University, Greensburg, PA. He is a 2011 graduate of Seton Hill University, where he received his Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education. He also has his Master of Music Degree in Trumpet Performance and Instrumental Conducting from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. His primary Trumpet instructors include: Dr. Theodore DiSanti (Associate Professor of Music at Seton HIll University) Charles Lirette (Co-Principal Trumpet, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra), George Vosburgh (Principal, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra) and Sean Jones (Lead Trumpet with Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra). Mr. Simpson has performed and recorded with: Westmoreland Symphonic Winds (Where he held principal position in 2009), Westmoreland Youth Symphony Orchestra, Seton Hill University Jazz Ensemble, Duquesne Wind Symphony, Pittsburgh Philharmonic, Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra, and the Westmoreland Choral Society. He is a proud member of MENC, PMEA, PMTA, and the ITG. He has performed and recorded with artists and composers such as: Charles Lirette, George Vosburgh, David Allen Wehr, Adam Liu, Steven Stucky, Mason Bates, and David Maslanka. In 2011, Mr. Simpson gave workshops on technology in the Music Education classroom at the Annual PMTA Conference and as part of Seton Hill University's iTeach Conference.
